How Fiction Works with Claire Keegan
Teach Bhride Education Centre
Co. Carlow
July 30th to August 4th, 2022
Tuition: 1,250 Euro

This course will present texts which influenced Claire Keegan in her development as a fiction writer. These will include scripts by Chekhov, Carver, Flannery O’Connor, Joyce, O’ Brien, McGahern and others. This is not a workshop based on participants’ manuscripts. Participants will be left to quiet, writing or reading time every morning. Claire’s lectures on writing will be held in the afternoons.

Lunch and dinner will be served daily. Breakfast is continental/help yourself. A kitchen is provided and may be used at any time. The accommodation is not at all fancy. Every participant will be provided with a plain, clean, no-frills room with a desk, and an en-suite bathroom. The food is wholesome and home-cooked, and allergies will be catered for. If participants wish to book alternative accommodation, they are welcome to do so. Tuition for non-residential places with dinner and lunch provided is 1,000 euro. Dinner will be served at 7pm every evening.

Participants are free to arrive from noon onward on July 30th. Lunch will be provided at 1:30pm. Teach Bhride has 3 bedrooms near the lift for people with physical difficulties.
